The Legacy of William Ireland
Following the success at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe with the five star show “After Today”, Stage D’Or returns with their latest work from acclaimed playwright Tim Connery.
London, 1796. Meet young William Henry Ireland, self-proclaimed poetic genius (or idiot according to others). William relates the improbable but true story about how he managed to not only improve on some of Shakespeare’s works (giving them a happy ending) but also forge a brand new Shakespeare play, causing riots and the near-destruction of the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane – which of course was not his fault.
