The Perfect Body
A nice forty-year-old lady is rehearsing her TV program called THE PERFECT BODY, that is also the name of the method she invented to be healthy and beautiful. But during the rehearsal some memories will break her delicate mental balance. Discovering the pandora jar of repressed frustrations will bring out her hilarious and disturbing madness that will lead her to an awareness that will come to life in the final dialogue with an old man, someone dear to her.
A show on today’s obsession of being healthy, beautiful, eating bio, having fully functional bodies that will take the audience on a roller coaster of emotions till a very touching and human ending.
A one-woman show; a brilliant and sometimes grotesque monologue which speaks to the neurosis of wanting to be healthy at all costs. Incorporating themes on the vicious cycle of industrial production of our food and societal obsessions over healthy eating, fitness, holistic lifestyles and believing that old age should be feared, The Perfect Body has received incredible reviews and sold-out audiences in Italy.
Translated by Marco Quaglia, The Perfect Body will be performed by Savignoni in English for the first time at its Edinburgh debut.
