PQA Venues is always on the lookout for hardworking, happy, fun-loving individuals to join our team as part of Front of House, Box Office, Bar, Technical and Marketing departments; and 2019 is no different. As part of the PQA Venues Technical Team, you will be fully involved in the running of all spaces. Under the Technical Manager, all technical staff will be present for the get in, build and get out, setting up and operating sound, light and AV for our visiting companies.

You will work across all spaces and will be required to learn the systems across all spaces and be part of the technical rehearsal, programming the sound, lighting and projection and ensuring there are detailed Sound and LX plots and DSM scripts. Shows will range from complex to more simple designs with some visiting companies providing their own operators. In such cases, you will be required to ensure the visiting Technician is competent in the operation of all technical equipment we provide.

Basic training will be given on all systems you are required to operate.

In addition to the day to day running, the PQA Venues Technical Team will be collectively responsible for the cleanliness and Health and Safety of the performance space.

Working closely with Front of House you will assist with the get in and out of the visiting companies and audience members while ensuring that each show goes up on time and comes down on time. You will keep strict records for shows that overrun.

Dates of engagement: 23rd July – 28th August
Fee: £1800 Inclusive on either a self-employed or PAYE status
Working Hour: A minimum of 8 hours per day throughout the run, with longer days at the start and end for technical rehearsals and the get-in and get-out of the venue.
Days Off: a minimum of 2 days off throughout the run. However, we will endeavour to give one day off per week.

Expectation

  • To be available to work every day throughout EdFringe and for the dates stated above
  • To be willing to work split shifts
  • To be in attendance at the venue as per the rota regardless of operating or not.
  • To be diligent a team member.
  • To adhere to and uphold the company ethos and policies

As Bar Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the customer experience. The ideal candidate must have previous bar management experience with a friendly, confident and fun personality. Being good with people is essential as is the ability to work calmly under pressure.

Answering to the Theatre Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Excellent customer service
  • Set up and aesthetic of the bar areas
  • Stock keeping and stock ordering
  • Reporting and reconciliation of stock against sales each day
  • Health and safety of the bar area
  • Cleaning rotas
  • Bar menu, including a gin and prosecco drinks and cocktail menu.
  • Age verification policies

Dates of engagement: 29th July – 27th August
Fee: £9 ph
Working Hour: A minimum of 8 hours per day throughout the run, with longer days at the start and end for set up.
Days Off: A minimum of 2 days off throughout the run. However, we will endeavour to give one day off per week.

As a member of the Front of House team, you will be the face of PQA Venues and will help to cement our reputation as Winner of Best Venue.

We are looking for friendly, outgoing, hardworking and diligent team members who can undertake all tasks required to keep the front of house running. This includes ushering for our visiting companies, box office, meet and greet of patrons, serving of food and drink and working behind the bar.

All FOH team members will be required to have an in-depth knowledge of all shows being presented and be able to talk with knowledge about all productions to patrons.

Dates of engagement: 29rd July – 28th August
Fee: £8.21 per hour
Working Hour: As required. You must be available to work evening and weekends. Shifts may consist of split shifts.

Answering to the Theatre Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Creating a friendly, inviting atmosphere for all patrons
  • Answering patrons questions and troubleshooting where required
  • Keeping the flow of audience members in and out of each venue within the specified times
  • Keeping all theatre spaces and FOH areas clean, tidy and presentable including the car and food areas.
  • Assisting accessible needs patrons at each venue
  • Greeting and hosting VIP guest and the press

Answering to the Theatre Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Preparing and serving basic food Items (Wraps, Jacket Potatoes, Pannis, Salads etc)
  • Stock control and product rotation.
  • Ensure compliance and quality control.
  • Preparing food.
  • Input on improving shop set-up.
  • Cleaning and general hygiene.
  • Inventory counting.

Applicants must have exceptional customer service skills, be able to operate efficiently and professionally under pressure and have an outgoing and friendly personality
